This is what you need to know about post baby weight
We've always admired Pink's spunkiness and flair for rocking her individuality, but now that we've heard how she lost her baby weight in a healthy manner -- well, we're definitely ready to, as the singer would insist, raise our glass. People reports the 33-year-old mother to baby girl Willow Sage, 15 months, gained 25 kilos during her pregnancy -- and took her time shedding it.
"I love to feel fit," Pink tells People. "I love to feel healthy. I wasn't in a race. I was really kind to myself because I was actually really impressed with the fact that I had just had a baby, like 'I made a human!'"
Pink had to have an emergency C-section, which meant she had to wait eight weeks after her daughter's birth to get back to her exercise routine. "It was hard work, and I'm still getting there," she tells People. "I'm still 10 lbs.(4.5 kilos) away from my pre-baby weight."
Pink's baby weight philosophy seems in tune with The Office's Jenna Fischer. The mom of almost-one-year-old son Weston was recently quoted with this zinger on the topic of baby weight: "I'm actually angered by the 'posing in a bikini six weeks after having my baby' [trend] … Who cares if our boobs are hanging low and we have a little more junk in the trunk? We created a human being, everybody. Let's celebrate!"
She recently told People this: "It's taken me every day of 10 months to lose the weight. I did it slowly and I did it moderately. It was important for me to lose it. I was a fit and active person before I had my son, but if there's one thing I could do for a new mum, it'd be to alleviate her of any guilt or any stress over the idea of having her body look a certain way."
Can we get a "Hear! Hear!"? Echoing Jenna is the lovely Kate Beckinsale, who recently told the UK version of Glamour magazine: "Pregnancy changes a woman's body and should. It isn't normal to not look like you've had a baby immediately after you've had a baby. I was gigantic after I had Lily." Kate went on to say how she feels lucky to have given birth 13 years ago. "Britain wasn't so paparazzi-orientated. I was allowed to get on with it and enjoy my baby -- and figure out what being a mother was all about instead of worrying about [fitting into] my f**king jeans."
Another celeb mother whose attitude we like: Hilary Duff. In July she was photographed while holding her 3-month-old son Luca, wearing a bathing suit. Her response (according to In Touch): "I'm not perfect, but I feel fantastic." And Christina Applegate fessed up earlier this year to wearing her maternity jeans a year post-baby -- giving voice to belly-panel-loving mums everywhere.
But the actions of new mum of three Jennifer Garner speak louder than words -- wearing a mum bathing suit, mum jeans, and even ripped granny undies. We just love her incredible normal mum-ness. It's a healthy reminder that there are so many more important things than getting into your pre-pregnancy jeans.
