Fifty Shades of Grey may have ignited a whole new trend in erotic literature but it's worth looking back to see what other books might er, benefit your sex life just in time for Valentines Day.

  • An iVillage survey in the US  found that a fifth of men and women have read Fifty Shades of Grey -- and of those, a whopping 65 percent said their sex life changed as a result of reading the book. Surprisingly, 87 percent of men reported a change compared to just 34 percent of women. For those guys, 39 percent had more foreplay, 38 percent had more sex, 38 percent bought sexy lingerie, 34 percent talked more about desires and fantasies and 34 percent introduced more sex toys into the bedroom.

    But the female-friendly erotica hasn't just benefitted the men: 50 percent of women who read the book reported that they started having more sex, 43 percent said that it helped them feel more comfortable initiating sex and 31 percent had more conversations about their fantasies and desires.
